One of our favourite TV series is Escape to The Chateau.
So, just what is French Chateau style and how would you achieve the look when creating a tablescape?
Well we interpret it as having a romantic, almost ethereal quality, achieved by using pretty pastel shades, shabby chic furnishings and natural floral arrangements in preference to formal displays.
No harsh lighting please! Instead use lots of candlelight to cast a soft glow. Table coverings should be antique lace or a gossamer like material, set off with place settings comprising vintage fine bone china, polished cutlery and crystal clear glassware - all elements we adore and use in our Tablescapes.
Even if ‘French Chateau’ style is not to your taste, you have to admire those plucky Brits who have upped sticks and made a new life in France as guardians of their own French Chateaux.
Watching spellbound week after week as these unloved and neglected buildings are transformed into their former glory once more, is a joy.
Sasha and I can’t help but feel inspired to follow suit, and we hope to – in the not too distant future.
And, being proud of our British heritage, we plan to be known as ‘The English Chateau’, serving English Afternoon Tea in French fairy tale surroundings – a magical setting to celebrate special occasions.
In the meantime, we would love to bring the ‘English Chateau’ to you, with our exquisite Tablescapes, décor and backdrops.
So if you are planning to hire china for your Tea Party – why not consider hiring an ‘English Chateau’ Experience instead?
Whether your event is for ten guests or one hundred guests, whether at home or at a venue – we will ensure your special occasion is made extra special with our HIRE, SET UP AND STYLE Service.
Let’s talk!
